"Awww this was so sweet! I really enjoyed this."
I Think the Moon of You
I wanted to chase the moon with you until I realized
the moon needs your luminescence to stay awake for the rest of the world
every night.
But maybe this time,
I can watch from a distance.
The illumination of your love
and how it pulls tides;
casting a bit of hope over my ominous waters.
I would follow you forever -
but I need something more permanent.
You compliment something much more significant,
more far-reaching
than anything I could ever cradle between my imperfect palms.
Galaxies are enamored by you.
And the stars?
Never a contest.
You told me you thought the world of me?
Well,
I think the moon of you.

This is deep and beautiful. My favorite line is: "The illumination of your love and how it pulls tides; casting a bit of hope over my ominous waters." WOW! Just beautiful! After my third read, my only suggestion is on punctuation; I think this verse is over punctuated. I dont think the period is needed after distance, because the rest of the verse shows what is being watched: The Illumination. Further, I think you could replace the semicolon with a coma after tides, because it is simply a further description. I've attempted to show you what I mean. None the less, you have written a lovely tribute to a lucky friend. Write ON!
