wait for it...

Sitting on my patio
reading Baudelaire
and watching the neighborhood kids
so young and arrogant and sure
I`d forgotten how tough it is
to know everything there is to know
while still so young.
The pressures of life unbearable
you don`t understand,is their refrain.
They go about the business
of being kids as I read on
and think to myself,
you have no idea
what`s in store for you.
Everything done now forgotten
when life really gets you
in it`s sights, and drops the hammer
but then again
I probably wouldn`t understand.

Strange, full of wisdom, not to optimistic, but there is hope, and there is the damn hammer.

I like it!

They`re good kids and I hope they get wiser, but the hammer is always waiting. Thanks for reading and the comment.
