About

John Quintana is 67 year old retired public employee.  He was bon in Albuquerque, NM and now resides in Santa Fe, NM.  His has been writing as a hobby since 2003 as a theapudic device to explore his inner thoughts.  His work have evolved into a collection of short stories about growing up in Las Mercedes, no know as Albuquerque South Valley.  He attributes his work to growing up a Chicano during the 1950s and 1960s where family, religion and culture molded his life.  His stories are nutured by the red earth of the high mountian desert of New Mexico and fed by the muddy waters of the Rio Grande river.  The stories are snaps shots how a young Chicano male child moved between two worlds when he left the womb of his insular barrio and plunged headfirst into the white schools and the large white community spereated from old traditions of family and culture.
