DEAR FEAR
Dear Mr. Fear,
oh, where do I start?
Please grant me answers,
I'm awfully torn apart.
Why does Daddy hit me?
this I need to know.
Even when i'm well behaved,
a punch is what he throws.
Why does Mummy call me names?
won't even look me in the eye.
I tuck myself in bed at night,
and I quietly start to cry.
My eyes are coloured black,
My body different tones.
Pelted with all foreign objects,
I need help but no one knows.
My lips are painted red,
if I speak without their say.
I live in silence with their violence,
too afraid to run away.
Mummy and Daddy are mad at me,
but why? I need to know.
I really do love both my parents but...
DEAR FEAR IT'S TIME I GO.

Very powerful stuff, Anina. Captures a child's confusion about what they have done to deserve such things. An excellent poem on a very important subject.
