The competition had 136 entries, which means that the total prize pool was $336. Per the rules, the grand prize winner receives 50% or $167.50. Each runner-up receives 25%, or $83.75. In addition, Sol Nasisi will provide a review of each winning entry. Each winner and short-listed entry will also have their writing Boosted on Booksie over the next couple of weeks.

Hello, Booksie world! We've cooked up another competition to keep your writing flowing and increase your exposure. Done with NanoWriMo and wondering what to do next with your masterpiece? Have a book or a novel idea you've been noodling? Enter your first chapter into the Booksie First Chapter Contest and see how it does. 

You can submit your entire book but only the first chapter will be judged.

Prizes

We've decided to experiment with a slightly different prize structure for this contest. Let us know what you think.?

• The competition will start with a minimum prize pool of $200.
• The pool will increase by $1 for every entry into the competition.
• The first place winner will receive 50% of the total prize pool, and two runner-ups will receive 25% each of the final prize pool. 
• In addition, all three winners will receive a review of their chapter from Sol Nasisi of WorldMaker Media, the publisher of best-selling books Screaming in the Silence, My Own Worst Nightmare, and For the Love of Babies.

The judge for this competition is New York Times best-selling author Susan Stec.
