The Man Who Loved Too Much
Ryan had always believed that love was meant to be shared. From childhood, he tried to be the perfect son, the Good friend, and the most caring person anyone could ask for. He was the kind of person who would drop everything to help someone, who would listen when no one else did, who would put others before himself without hesitation.
But no matter how much love he gave, it never came back to him.
His parents never truly understood him. No matter how hard he tried, they always found something to criticize. If he got good grades, they asked why he wasn’t the best. If he did something kind, they dismissed it as an obligation, never as something worthy of praise. He longed for a simple "I’m proud of you," but it never came.
He had many friends, but he didn’t truly like any of them. He spent time with them, laughed with them, but never felt a real connection., always feeling like an outsider.
And then, there was her. The girl he loved. The one who made his heart race with just a smile. He gave her his time, his attention, his everything—but to her, he was just another person in the background. She never noticed how much he cared, never saw the way he looked at her when she spoke. And the worst part? She gave all the love he longed for to someone else, as if he had never even existed.
Ryan told himself to be patient. That someday, he would be enough. But that day never came.
One night, alone in his room, the weight of his loneliness crushed him. He stared at his reflection, hollow-eyed and exhausted. He had tried for so long, given so much, yet he remained invisible. A single thought echoed in his mind:
What’s the point?
He felt tired—tired of giving, tired of waiting, tired of hoping. For a brief moment, he thought of ending it all. Of finally escaping the pain. But then, another thought whispered in his mind:
What if I stop trying?
That night, Ryan made a decision. Not to end his life, but to end the person he used to be. The boy who craved love, who sacrificed everything for others, was gone.
From that day forward, he stopped chasing people. He ignored calls, left messages unanswered, and cut ties with those who never truly cared. He stopped explaining himself, stopped trying to make people see his worth. Instead, he focused on himself—on his goals, his future, his own happiness.
"I have divided the world into two categories: the things that matter and the things that don’t," he told himself. "And love? Love doesn’t matter."
He poured his energy into his career, his mind, and his body. He worked in silence, trained relentlessly, and built himself into someone no one could ignore. And as he changed, the world around him took notice.
His parents, who had always overlooked him, suddenly wanted to talk. His friends, who had once left him behind, now reached out. Even she—the girl who never saw him—suddenly looked at him with different eyes.
But by then, Ryan had changed. He had once begged for love, but now, he had no space for it.
Because for the first time in his life, he was focused on the one person who truly mattered—himself.
And he will be finally happy.
AT LAST - People only value you when you stop chasing them. Focus on yourself, and the world will take notice."
