Religion.
By Danna Koontz
Trapped are we
Inside the lies that filter reality, some choose to recognize
The tart taste of death failing your mind
Failing your hopes and dreams
Only for you to miss the beauty of being gone
The very lead-up to it,
being distraught instead, full of excitement
We do what we do best when found but still lost,
We wonder,
What will tomorrow bring
Maybe, is what we depend on
Instead of a definite answer
Instead of a fact,
We drownd ourselves without the knowledge of what is to come
Unable to find it and agree with it,
We mourn.
Trapped we are,
In our minds.
In the peace of believing the false lies that feed the hunger for our satisfaction
Now weakened,
Your left,
A numb pain now motions to you that you are alone,
Without the knowledge of what is to come,
We are now nothing but an animal in a cage
Doped up on the antibiotics that remain the false lie you chose to believe.
And death comes,
And death does what death does,
And you realize you were wrong,
But it's too late.
And you die in the cage,
only to be replaced by those behind you
