I couldn’t breathe due to the air pressure. We stopped after a couple minutes. I was thrown onto the floor, gasping for breath. What I saw left me dumbfounded.
Yuzuki, my elder sister, laid there, unconscious, blood flowing from her abdomen. I could see her interiors. So abominable a sight that anyone would puke right there. I couldn’t move; neither could I run from there seeing that, nor could I reach up to her to sympathize with her. I felt so guilty, for god knows what reason. But, I forced myself to go up to her. Of course, I should not have a reason to check on my sibling. I go forward, slowly, minding every step that I take. Just at the same moment, reality struck me. I realised that I had a goddamn ghost behind me. I don’t look back, moving forward towards Yuzuki. ‘H–Hey, are you fi–fine?’ I ask her, my voice trembling. I was shaking her awake, ‘Wake up, please.’, I yelled. My mind was going blank. What should I do? She was not waking up. I finally grabbed the courage to look back.
The spirit was most probably enjoying what was happening. Is this the one who did this to Yuzuki? What the hell is going on? I want to get out of here. Yes, this is all an illusion. How could this even be possible? Why did it take me a while to figure this out? Perhaps I was overwhelmed by what was going on. I will go crazy if this keeps on going. I so badly want to get out of here. I rushed from there. Anywhere would be fine if it is away from those devils.
I didn’t really know where I was going. Relying on my instinct to pave my way. A figure was approaching from the front. Something red and white, but it all looked almost black from afar.
It was smiling widely, it had big eyes and big teeth, head tilted slightly and looking straight at me. Why was this happening again and again? I knew that creature was coming towards me, it had something to do with me.
And I just knew that it was a clown.
~
My mind once again went blank. Now what to do? How should I escape this maze of ghosts? This haunted house was nothing more than a joke to me, but now it had turned out to be one of the most horrible things that had happened to me till now.
The clown advanced to me, every second passing away. I couldn’t turn back, because then who knows I might encounter that filthy ghost from earlier? Where to go?
There was a classroom a few feet ahead. I could only think of going in there–unless I wanted to be thralled by him. I entered the classroom quickly and hid inside one of the almirahs. I heard a few footsteps approaching and perhaps that clown was passing from the door, that is why I heard those noises. But no…He was not going past the classroom…The footsteps stopped. I leaned in to peep from the keyhole. And the clown was already peeking through that little hole, it scared the hell outta me and a scream left my mouth. The clown didn’t budge. He was hitting the almirah’s door, speaking in a funny voice, ‘Open the doooorrrrr… I want you to open the doooorrrrr.’ He was singing the words he spoke.
Now what to do…My mind once again went blank, panicking, what should I do now…If the clown breaks the door, I’m dead. If I try to run after opening the door, I’m dead. There was no time to think. The clown kept hitting the door to break it, and his hand…it pierced through the wood. OH HOLY SHIT. I managed to dodge his hand, only to notice that he was still peeping through the keyhole. This is creepy…God I wanna get outta here ASAP. I unlocked the door on reflex, to save myself from his arm that kept lurking in the almirah, trying to find my body and pierce it.
But this…was certainly not a good decision. He grabbed me from one of his free hands and forced my face to look at his hideous appearance. Now that I think about it, I never saw the clown’s whole face properly. From the keyhole, its face looked scarier.
