Alone in the dark,
Is anyone there?
I hear the sounds of the dark,
Yet no one comes near.
I sit in the sun
while on a trip to the park.
The children play and the small dogs bark,
Still, I feel alone in the dark.
Overhead the geese fly by.
They stop to rest on ponds nearby.
They'll trust only one to show the way,
The chosen one to follow all through the day.
I take a walk in the light of day,
On paths filled with friends and lovers.
To me, the world seems filled with pairs
All bound close like sisters and brothers.
I close the door when I get home.
Another night to spend all alone.
I guess I've failed to make my mark.
Alone again here in the dark.
