I want to go…
Where the wonder is.
I want to go where the bonfires
Snap, whisper, and crackle
Where the children scrape knees
but are laughing too hard
And having too much fun to cry
I want to go where the wonder is
Where the moon speaks too much
And the trees grow too high
Where the sun melts Sadness
And rain washes away all fears
I want to go
Where tears are a badge of honor
And flowers ask to be plucked and placed in your hair
I want to go where we make love on a cushioned pile of memories
Where we both have a chronic ache in our ribs from laughter
Where we notice out of the corner of our eyes the other admiring with a soft smile that begs for a kiss.
I want to go where we live like animals
So much that the dogs cock their head to the side in bewilderment and the rooster lets us wake up on our own.
I want to go where poetry is not read but lived
Where we burn the tree of knowledge and smoke its legend.
Where eye contact is all the communication necessary and danger is scared of our passion.
I want to go.
I want to go where the wonder is
Because the wonder is wherever you are.
