1967 TAKEN AT NIGHT

1967 ( July 06) Judith Ann Elwell ( age 5) Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Little details are known about the night Judith disappeared from her home in Oklahoma City in 1967. It's believed someone entered her home and took her from her bedroom into the night, never to be seen again. It's unclear how no one in her home heard anything suspicious. It's also unclear how the abductor enetered the home. Through an unlocked door? Broke in through a window? What is known is that one of Judith's shoes was found next to an abandoned house ( about half a block from her home). A short length of braided rope was found under the shoe.

The only real clues come from Judith's older brother Mark. He claimed to have seen a suspicious large black car near their home some three weeks before his sister disappeared. Mark also claimed to have been followed ( by a car) as he did his paper routes. And this same mysterious black car was also seen in area on the day Judith was abducted.

What does this all tell us? It appears that whoever took Judith had stalked her and her family for quite some time. This person probably knew the family's routine and was familiar with the area. And the shoe and braided rope found? Judith probably dropped the shoe as she was carried across the lawn and to the abandoned house. The rope could have been used to keep her tied up ( or at least part of her, like her ankles or wrists). It's unclear if police investigated the abandoned house for evidence.

Could Judith's abduction be connected to the case of Brenda Lois White? She was murdered when she was five years old in 1967 and apparently disappeared on August 3. She lived in Midwest City, Oklahoma and disappeared from an area known as St. Patrick Drive. Tragically she was later found buried in a shallow grave in a field located outside an abandoned house- about eleven miles from where she lived. Note- White wasn't found until November 1967.
