She was a warrior
Covered in more scars than most could imagine.
The wounds from her childhood never healed due to re-injury.
Again and again pain, fractures, and piercings left their mark.
Nothing was open, but her flesh was tough, hard, calloused.
He body was weary from so many battles-
Oh the stories she could tell.
She crouched down on her knees
Fatigued and humbled.
During that yielded surrender she held up
Her shield of Faith.
Not matter how weighted and worn,
She grounded her stance,
She braced her grip
And lifted high her protection,
Her defense.
One side was bold and brave.
The other side was hidden, weeping, but safe
From attack.
She’d stay covered until the assault passed,
Until the enemies weapons no longer fell upon her.
It was tense, it was brutal, it was raw.
Behind her shield, she was recalculating her offensive.
She wasn’t just complacently hiding.
She was strategizing.
And when she summoned the courage,
She’d rise again.
