I looked at my son, as he reposed on my chest peacefully. He was covered in black hair, and had brown eyes just like his parents. He had ten fingers on his two small hands, as well as ten toes.

Just a few minutes ago, I was struggling to expel him from my womb. With the strength that God had given me, I was able to succeed. He would not let me fail. And He never failed me. No, not once.

I was giddy with excitement. At that moment, I felt as if I could conquer anything. No challenge seemed insurmountable; God had helped me surmount what was the biggest challenge of my life, giving birth to a child in my own bed in front of my family. With their help, support, guidance, and with God's divine strength, I had succeeded.

"Thank you, God!" I sighed.

My mother picked up my son.

"Ni mama tai bang la!" she whispered to him, planting a kiss on his cheek.

Isaiah took hold of our son. He sat next to me in bed and hugged me tightly.

"I am so proud of you, my love! You did it!" he beamed, planting a kiss on my cheek.

I could not stop smiling. This was the happiest day of my life. What started out as labour pains soon turned out to be something utterly beautiful beyond imagination, a newborn baby. This was a gift from above. God had blessed us.

My mother hugged me tightly.

"Feichang bang, Rachel!" she beamed. I hugged my mother tightly, feeling utterly thankful for her guidance, support, and love. She had witnessed her youngest daughter expel a living human being from her womb at only 13 years of age.

Isaiah was giddy with excitement. He immediately started bonding with our boy.

"Your mother gave all of her strength in order to bring you into this world, my son," he said. "You must listen to her!"

I don't think my son understood what his father said, but who cares? Babies are just that, full of wonder.

The placenta soon followed. I soon found a blob of bloody tissue right between my legs.

"Wow," I said.

"That's the placenta," my mother said. "It comes after the baby is born."

"Oh," I replied.

My mother and husband got to work, cleaning up after the birth. I laid back down in bed with my son on my chest.

"Get some rest, Rachel. You've had a long day. You did great!" Isaiah said, as he took our son.

"I am so ready for a nap!" I said.

My mother laughed. "You did so amazing!" she beamed. "I cannot believe that my baby girl is all grown up!"

I hugged my mother once more, before giving Isaiah a hug. I planted a kiss on the head of my newborn son.

"Adino," I whispered into his ear. I named him after one of David's mighty men of war.
