CHAPTER FORTY-THREE

"Well little buddy, I sure hope we have better luck in Kochi City than we did last time. Damn those yakking away businessmen."

Beeep!

Putting up from Muroto-misaki was, as I expected, nowhere near as spectacular on the west coast of the peninsula as the east coast putting was going down the other side of the peninsula. Because the wind on the west coast was nowhere near as constant and strong? At any rate I didn't stop anywhere to take any photos.

"Hey little buddy, by not stopping us along the way, I got us to Kochi City a lot earlier than I expected. Now I can take my time searching for a minshuku.

Be-beep!

"I'm going to stay at a different minshuku this time. Not that the one last time was bad or anything. But there are others in a city this large. And I most certainly am not going to eat at the same restaurant. Anything to keep me away from those damn businessmen!"

Beeep!

As I was looking for another minshuku, I noticed a few coffee houses on the main drag advertising "Morning Service 7 to 11."

"Hey little buddy, I think I'm going to eat breakfast at one of these coffee shops instead of at a minshuku. A good cup of strong coffee and a boiled egg with a  salad should be more filling and wake me up quicker than a Japanese style breakfast. Advantages of a city."

Be-beep!

I found a minshuku right off the main drag. The room was nice, the Okusan pleasant and the price, though a bit expensive for Shikoku, was still real cheap compared to Kyoto.

Needless to say, I easily found another restaurant for dinner that was the usual long U-shaped counter. I of course ordered the steamed suzukiwaited the required fifteen minutes while drinking a bottle of the local sake and, when it finally came, found my suzuki especially delicious, without any yakking away businessmen to spoil it this time.

The next day I ate my morning service breakfast at a coffee shop on the main drag rather quickly even though the atmosphere was quite pleasant with classical music playing softly in the background. I just wanted to make it to as many temples as I could.

Sorry for the wait. My short story FLEET FEET FREE blossomed into a novelette and took me much longer than I expected to finish. Now that it is finished, I can go back to concentrating on A PUTT PAST PURGATORY EAST and, hopefully, with no more interruptions. It's all blocked out in my mind. But I still need to work on the actual text.
